## Campaign Feeling
I am picturing the feeling of this campaign to be adventurous. Not too dark or gritty.
I’m looking for heroic fantasy with an emphasis on role-play while still fighting plenty of monsters.
The idea is to be inspired by real life natural events like the leap year and the total solar eclipse and explore the power of nature in the world of Faerún.
Our starting caravan is traveling in the last weeks of 1491 DR and we are just over six months from Shieldmeet. (The Forgotten Realms version of a Leap Day).
We will be interacting with nature through celestial events, as well as the four elements - Air, Earth, Fire, and Water - as well as exploring the idea of Heroism vs Hubris.
## Campaign Setting
We will be focusing on the Sword Coast for the beginning of our adventures, but all of Faerún is on the table as the story advances.
___
## Character Level
We will be starting at the beginning of your character’s adventuring career - at Level 1.
You can add one (non-combat) feat to your character at Level 1, provided you explain how you came to have this feat in your backstory. (*List available below*)
Characters will level up at milestones in the adventure set by the DM, not with earned XP.
## Ability Scores
We will be using the point buy system for ability scores. You have 27 points to allocate using the following cost table:
| Ability Score | Cost |
|:--------------: |:------:|
| 8 | 0 |
| 9 | 1 |
| 10 | 2 |
| 11 | 3 |
| 12 | 4 |
| 13 | 5 |
| 14 | 7 |
| 15 | 9 |
This system provides for more balanced characters and focus on roleplay by promoting actions that generate advantage/disadvantage and inspiration.
## Hit Points
We will be rolling for hit points at each level, starting with max hits points for level one.
